For over 25 years, Dr. Daniel Zerweck has worked as a freelancer and as a scientific and senior executive in strategy development and project management. He has expertise in the following areas (planning, organisation, funding, management, communication, public relations work), which he gained across a wide variety of positions he has held – as committed member of a team, as responsible head, as consultant providing support.
Dr. Daniel Zerweck studied geography with minors in political science and law (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg) and with a focus on economics, statistics and regional planning in developing countries (University of Bayreuth). In 1997 he earned his PhD degree in the Faculty of Spatial Planning, TU Dortmund University.
He worked in the areas of city and regional marketing, strategic development and economics as a freelancer from 1990 to 2000 and at TU Dortmund University from 1992 to 2000. Since 1998 he has been actively involved as a scientist, city employee, and consultant in European projects.
From 2000 to2015 he worked for the City of Leverkusen, as head of the Department of General Planning and deputy head of the entire town planning office. In addition, he was also Coordinator of Demographic Change and Local Representative for the Cologne-Bonn Region of the North Rhine-Westphalian structural programme Regionale 2010. In the Region Köln Bonn e.V. (Cologne-Bonn Regional Association) he headed the Rhine working group.
Daniel Zerweck is a member of the Vereinigung für Stadt-, Regional- und Landesplanung SRL e.V. (Association for City and Regional Planning) and the Deutschen Akademie für Städtebau und Landesplanung e.V. (German Academy for City and Regional Planning).
